Easiteach Science

We know that there are challenges in teaching Science. If you're feeling the pressure of creating and managing lesson resources yourself, Easiteach Science is the whole-class teaching product you've been waiting for.

Easiteach Science provides powerful resources for whole-class teaching, and is designed to help deliver these parts of your lesson.

Easiteach Science is made up of two elements.

Easiteach Science Tools - a simple to use, interactive teaching tool for whole-class teaching.

Easiteach Science Content Packs - a collection of ready-made activities, simulations, models and resources, designed to help save teachers' time in lesson preparation.

Easiteach Science has been developed specifically for use on interactive whiteboards and other technologies suitable for whole-class teaching, bringing interactivity and greater pupil involvement to your lessons.

How Can Easiteach Science Help You?

• Captivating pupils and getting them actively involved with learning Science. Even the most reticent pupils want to be involved!
• Helping you explain Science concepts much more easily, with all of the pictures, images and other resources you need.
• Making managing resources in the lesson much easier as they are all in one place and pupils can easily see them and interact with them.

Easiteach Science Toolbar

It will provide you with a whole-class teaching tool containing lots of familiar Science resources that will really help in delivering whole-class or group elements of Science lessons. Additionally, the toolbar will allow you to integrate connected devices like digital and web cameras, electronic microscopes and desktop visualisers, to enable the projection of images to the whole class. These images can then easily be edited using the toolbar.

The Easiteach Science tools have been designed to be appropriate for both Primary and Secondary schools. The Science resources available in the toolbar are:

Magnetic Lines
These lines, or arrows can connect any objects on the Easiteach page. Once connected, the lines remain 'stuck' to the object, even if they are moved.

Web Diagrams
They enable the creation of diagrams such as food chains, life cycles and concept maps. There is a bank of standard diagrams, or custom diagrams can easily be created. The cells can be filled with pictures or text and wherever they are moved the links will stay intact.

Image Capture
Will allow you to integrate images from devices such as digital and web cameras, electronic microscopes and desktop visualisers into an Easibook, so that the whole class can see. The image can then be annotated or measurements can be taken using the Ruler or Calliper tools.

Select Image Source
The image device (web camera or microscope, for example) can be chosen from those that are connected to the computer.

Rulers
They can be resized, rescaled and rotated to make a variety of accurate measurements on the page.

Calliper
The digital calliper can be used to take accurate measurements from images imported into Easiteach or captured by hardware such as digital cameras.

Stopwatch and Timer
Enables the timing of class activities or investigations that every pupil can see. Several timers can be used at the same time. The displays can be seen as analogue, digital or both.

Science Symbols and Units
The palette provides you with easy access to a variety of scientific symbols and units that are hard to enter from the keyboard. They can be dragged onto the page as single units or built up on cards so that whole expressions can then be added to the page. They remain editable on the page.

Easiteach Science Content

To use the Content Packs you must already have Easiteach installed on your computer. To get the most out of the content pack we recommend the Easiteach Science Tools are also installed.

• Challenge pupils with scientific problems and questions.
• Promote discussion and develop understanding of
  scientific concepts.

Simulations
Simulations such as:

• Heartbeat
• Plant lifecycles
• Wind resistance and friction

Most Simulations allow pupils to vary elements to see the impact of those changes on the scenario.

Concept Cartoons
Have a variety of uses within the lesson:

• A starting point for investigations
• Promoting discussion
• Assessment or homework activities

Video Clips
Chemical processes in the world around us, including:

• Wind turbine
• Melting solder
• Car exhaust
